CONGRESS THEME : Building Bridges for Optimal Development: Investing in the Future

Dear Colleagues,
We have learnt many things during the COVID-19 pandemic. Among others, we have learnt the importance of staying connected with friends, family and colleagues, and have learnt that we can use technology to do so.
We have also observed the significant impact of the pandemic on the mental health and wellbeing of children, adolescents and families.  The SA-ACAPAP national committee therefore decided that it was of vital importance to host a congress in 2021, and decided to use a virtual platform to allow as many people as possible to join.  The theme of the congress is about “Building Bridges” to ensure optimal development and outcomes for all children, adolescents and families in South Africa and across the continent.  The programme will therefore deliberately include ‘bridge-building’ presentations with paediatrics, education, social development and across disciplines.   Congress activities will include a range of international keynotes, oral and poster presentations, as well as workshops on specific topics of relevance today.  There should be themes and talks of interest to everyone who works with children, adolescents and their families!
Prof Petrus de Vries, University of Cape Town | SA-ACAPAP President
